Re: Would a LS3060 plus laser engraver and cutter suit me be

Hiya Chris, Pin beds are great but unless you have a high pin density you can suffer with parts tipping. The underside burning isn't always as a result of reflection of the beam but more from a lack of air pressure (I'm just about to write up a section on my forum about air pressure). If you don't ...

Re: Would a LS3060 plus laser engraver and cutter suit me be

Hi Chris, May be a daft question (I'm good at them, just ask the spookster ;) ) do you really have to cut in hardwood just for a prototype? I've been meaning to finish a pin bed for mine but not got round to it yet - so can't help on that one, sorry Dave Hi Dave, Good question. It depends if the pr...

Re: Would a LS3060 plus laser engraver and cutter suit me be

Thank you, again for the great advice. I think the LS 6090 PRO Laser engraving and cutting machine may be better, as it has a 60W laser - but if you have trouble with even the laser machine above the 6090, that is a worry. I emailed Laserscript regarding the 3060 being removed from the site, and the...

Re: Would a LS3060 plus laser engraver and cutter suit me be

I have spoken to the MD of the company I work for, and he does seem very interested in me having one of these machines. However, he is concerned that it will not cut the 5mm MDF or hardwood, as this is what his laser company (the company he uses for the production parts) says. Do you think it would ...

Re: Would a LS3060 plus laser engraver and cutter suit me be

Thank you! I shall think over this tonight and tomorrow, and will talk to my Italian friends to see what they think, and then, hopefully, buy one! It will certainly speed up the design and development process and would be great to hand over the complete design package when my projects are complete! ...

Re: Would a LS3060 plus laser engraver and cutter suit me be

Hiya, I guess it doesn't have to be deadly accurate - as I'm sure the 16 machines my Italian friends have are not £100k each. It has to be accurate enough for parts to slot into each other, like this; http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa249/chriswatton/revenge3-1.jpg Which ends up something like th...

Re: Would a LS3060 plus laser engraver and cutter suit me be

Hi again, Dave, I guess I could save a drawing from T/CAD in DWG, and open it in Draftsite and then save in DXF. As the machine will be used strictly for ‘one off’ prototype projects, the speed of the cutting isn’t an issue, but accuracy is. Because it would not be used as a ‘mass production’ machin...

Re: Would a LS3060 plus laser engraver and cutter suit me be

Hi Dave, Thank you for your reply - much appreciated. I have never heard of 'Laser MDF' or 'Laser ply' before! I use (or have no choice but to use) Marine birch ply (0.6 - 5mm thick), walnut hardwood (2-5mm thick) and standard MDF (2-6mm thick - although 5mm is usually the limit) The bed size seems ...

Would a LS3060 plus laser engraver and cutter suit me best?

Hi, I have been looking for a small laser cutting machine for a while, for use in prototype work (I am a product designer in the hobby industry) I usually get my designs laser cut by the company I work for, in Italy. However, it would be a lot more convenient if I could this at home (I have a purpos...
