Re: Pics of what youve done

Here is an interesting job I have just completed, it's another prop recreation from the TV series Space: 1999 for the members of http://www.eagletransporter.com This time it's the travel tube, this was made as a novelty item to be back lit or perhaps as a clock face. Enjoy. Bernie An interesting sho...

Re: Sizing Error!

I wonder if something maybe lost in translation. I use a MAC to produce my drawings, then output as .dxf, this format retains all the colour information and therefore the layering for engraving or cutting. Every part I have cut except for this last month where the machine suffered a mechanical error...

Re: Incomming!! :)

Hi Dave,

I love the train buildings and that Eiffel Tower is just amazing.

Can I ask what material you are using? It looks very handy to prototype projects.

Love to see more of your work.

Re: 4 Inch Focal Length Mirrors

Hi Guys, I am quite keen to up the performance and preserve the length of service of my tube. Where do I order the 63.5 mm focal length lens from? Is it a like for like replacement apart from changing the air cone? Very keen or the narrower kerf, be handy to increase the accuracy of my industrial mo...

Re: not cutting very deep

The very last thing to consider is what you are cutting. Use cast material if you have a choice. It is very stable, has a lower hydroscopic character (IMHO) and present you the easiest set of challanges. In other words give yourself the best chance. When setting up the mirror alignment clean as you ...

Re: Groove

Hi Guys, To be honest I have never managed to cut a grove effectively as the circumstances to make this happen are difficult to repeat two cuts in a row. So many variables will effect this, ambient temperatures of the air, water and material and the amount of water absorbed into the wood or acrylic ...

Re: not cutting very deep

As a guide, if you can't cut 6 mm acrylic like this there is an alignment problem. http://i602.photobucket.com/albums/tt110/captainscifi/Travel%20Tube%20Project/3eddcdbf.jpg It has taken me a good while to work out how to set up this machine and get the best out of it. I will write up a set of guide...

Not holding focus or shape across the cutting table....

Recently I have been having issues with my LS6090 with totally baffling symptoms that have taken me a month to resolve. The laser began to lose focus across the full run of the table (600 x 900 mm in my case) it would cut well where the laser enters the cabinet but as soon as it moved towards the op...

Re: Using a Mac

Hi Oli, Mac users unite..! I bought a cheap PC laptop to install and use with our 6090 system. I dump the files onto a datastick and import them via the cut software. I was concerned that the dongle would not be recognised or other problems might occur. Does this work ok with your setup, if it does ...

Re: no beam

I Had exactly the problem you described with my 6090 Pro about 5 months after I bought it. Chris diagnosed a safety cut out switch fault upon investigation it proved to be the lid micro switch had gone down. It looked to me as though the casing had been over heated during installation and melted it....
