Re: Adobe Illustrator to Lasercut 5.3
We do this and find it easiest to open the .ai file in Inkscape, ungroup all of the items and ensure all objects are converted to paths then save a copy as a .dxf. Inkscape cannot export to a .dxf on a mac correctly though. I find Inkscape easier to use than a CAD program as it mimics a lot of the f...

Re: Recycling Acrylic?
Currently in negotiation to get a bin installed at the Perspex depot on the M65 nr Blackburn. Sibani have been appointed as Perspex's UK recycler but I think they deal in much larger quantities than I produce (About 100 litres to date over 2 years). As it's such a small amount it's proved quite diff...

Re: tube in cold weather
Mine's in a shed and the hpc anti-freeze worked a treat in the tub, I had previously lost a tube to freezing water. Since upgraded to one of the files and I put a bit of anti freeze in the water in that and I've had no issues and have been running it like that for a few months now.

Re: Turned down :(
We got accepted by NOTHS but decided after 3months to delete all of our product from it as even if you searched for our very distinctive and not a real world brand no results showed up. They basically wanted us to pay even more money for advertising on top of the fees and commision for our product t...

LaserCut 6.1
I've seen a couple of posts on the internet (I know don't believe anything you read etc) that there is an updated version of the LaserCut software out there in the wild. Apparently it's more stable and doesn't require a dongle \o/ Has anybody used it? Is it any better? Will it work with the controll...

Re: Bearings on Y-Axis causing ridges in 3mm Perspex
Well as I came back from skiing to find a burst tube thanks to the cold weather this slipped down the priority list but thanks to the guys who came out and installed the new tube who pointed out how to tension the belt on the right-hand bearing carriage.

Re: Bearings on Y-Axis causing ridges in 3mm Perspex
Cheers Dave - I hadn't managed to find that post before.
They aren't the same bolts actually. The one I loosened was the one connecting the rod to the chassis in case it was out of alignment. I'll take a look at the carriages tonight.
