Just researching, looks like 'medite' is the de facto laser MDF product, cheap too.

You won't be able to cut 6mm ply or mdf on the 3020 really well - you will need better air assist at least and good clean and aligned mirrors - even good extraction. Tried -briefly - today. Can cut 6mm ply or MDF but burns. If I turn power down (as per the manual settings) then it does not even Mark the material.

If the cut parts are fused at the end of the cutting, then maybe not enough extraction. As extraction cools the material when it sucks the air passed. I cut with card under the acrylic and quite a bit of liquid is absorbed and there is a fire risk, whereas without the card underlay, no problems. The...

Machine has run for an hour or two. New in May 2014. We have tried many different settings. After googling a bit, I am going to try MDF for cutting, cheaper anyway!

We have found that we can cut and engrave acrylic perfectly. But using the re-cut focus tool at 53mm not the 60mm supplied with the machine.
