Re: laser photographs onto granite
Hi Mal, Ya photos can get complicated, lightening, darkening, removing backgrounds, turning to grey scale and diffusing halftones and saving as windows 2 bit bitmap. I must admit I havnt do it for a while, I cheat and use photograv. But it's possible. If you could post some pictures of the image, se...

Re: Engraving Mahogany with LS6090
Hi Stuart, Sounds like fun :) speeds and powers are down to how deep you want to go? Just try doing a few test circals, with different powers. I would keep the speed a constant 400 and tweak the power say start at 30% and go for deeper and down for shallower. Only other veriable is scan gap, which o...

Re: LS3020 - Engraves but will not cut
Hi, How's the test going? You should be measuring from the top of the material to the top of the mounting plate, which is the the plate that holds the laser head and attaches everything to the gantry. The lens is as you mentioned under the angled mirror. You get to it from underneath. There is a top...

Hi John,
Glad your up and running. Lasers aren't that much fun when there not running! Just keep your eye not it, the wheels never normally cause us any problems but keep us posted.
Cheers Simon

Re: LS3040 X axis jammed
Hi John, I think the problems the speed. Your cutting way too fast for the machine. You do need to be a little bit canny on delicate materials. Its more the intricacy of the drawing that will influence the speed. Simple drawings / shapes you can speed things up 40s 50s but complexed intricate drawin...

Re: cutting settings
Hi, There should be a cheat sheet in the manual, but if not email sales@hpclaser.co.uk and they email you one. You can cut acrylics quite fast but the faster you go the poorer the edge quality. Try a speed of 10 with a power and corner power 100%. Normally if I'm unsure of a material I'd do some tes...

Re: LS3040 X axis jammed
Morning John, Just to clarify, you where cutting at a speed of 200? So the laser head can be moved manually front to back with the power off, but not as freely as left to right. Does it stick at any specific place? Just have a good look and feel along the gantry ( the arm which the laser head travel...

Re: Unexpected behaviour
Hi All, Not sure if this could be the answer, but it may be of use. If you press the return / enter button on the key pad to highlight the file and then press it again it opens the set datum window. If you press enter again it will set the datum to where ever the laser head is on the bed. It can be ...
