Re: Newbie with a 3020
I have the 6040 and also after a few months there are a few things that need checked and tighten up, from looking at photo’s of Dave’s machine (spooky) the quality of the hardware on these budget machines is a lock nut or two short compared to the more expensive ones, obviously. I have just tightene...

Re: shadowing when engraving problem
Just an update on this, I have pretty much solved the problem, the cause was the looseness of the laser head running up and down the cross bar This machine has nylon rollers, which guide it up and down the bar, for whatever reason these were allowing some twist in the head as it moved back and forth...

Re: HELP!! laser tube 3 months old burn out
That’s the machine up and running again thanks to some good service from the HPC team. Point of interest for anyone changing a tube, you can’t solder directly to the pin coming out of the tube. Apparently its titanium or something, anyhow if you wrap a fine wire around the pin, tin that and then sol...

Re: HELP!! laser tube 3 months old burn out
Hi Dave
Yes that was an unfortunate orientation, when I spoke with Chris I did ask how he would set it up, So When I get the new tube installed I will post a pic just to be sure.
good idea with the acrylic, does it need a special treatment to give some protection from the laser?
Cheers
Michael

Re: HELP!! laser tube 3 months old burn out
I spoke with Chris last night, Like you, he said it was just heat, normally caused by a bubble. I do check for bubbles regularly and with the water running all the time it really keeps the bubbles at bay, but I don’t know if there was a bubble there as it would have moved off when the two parts sepa...

Re: HELP!! laser tube 3 months old burn out
This tube has got at most 70 hours on it, 90% of that was used under 30% power. I moslty work with 1.5mm this laminates. When this happened it was a very rare occasion of having to cut 3mm acrylic, so I had the power up at 100% for a few minutes operation. I figured it was from overheating but I can...

HELP!! laser tube 3 months old burn out
Ok I am going nuts now.
How does this happen with a 3 month old laser tube that has the water running through it constantly (even when the machine is off) and doesn't have any bubbles anywhere in the tube.

Re: shadowing when engraving problem
Ok I have some improvement, I have tightened the timing belt and it has improved it significantly, now how tight can I make it before I start to damage the drive?
I think I will need to tighten the drive belt for the other direction too, not sure how to reach that though?
