Re: Closed Cell Silicone Foam

I am not 100% certain of the exact material spec, but, in principle...
No such thing as "In principle" Tim :) it's either safe or it's not and you will need to know the exact materials spec to decide. CSF covers a LOT of evils

Re: Lubrication

PTFE is fine, just don't hit it with a laser beam, it decomposes at 287 degrees into some pretty nasty stuff.

Re: Laser Bed not moving.

As it's in a school I think you are better of talking to HPC direct - HSE and all that ;) DIY + School = TROUBLE! Davo is spot on, get the experts in, fires in cabinets can cause all sorts of issues and the boys will know exactly what to look at and what is likely to have been damaged. To be honest...

Re: Clear antifreeze

Careful with some anti freeze buddy, the commercial ones have additives that laser tubes don't like.

I'd council getting some of the HPC LaserCool stuff, I've used it down to -12 C and up to 25C without a hint of problems.

Re: Ready To Buy a New Machine

storming machine mate....I loved mine and it's still going strong close on 10 years down the road now with it's new owner. Bomb proof....

The HPC 6840 and the 1290 are without doubt two of the toughest most reliable machines I have ever seen or used.

There are 2x 25mm box sections run front to back under the top section to locate it on the roller cabinet :)
