Re: LS6090 laser problem

I think it must be time to bite the bullet and get a new tube. Will probably get a timer to start the pump automatically and leave it running all day and check for bubbles more regularly. Will monitor water temp as well.

Thanks for all your help.

Re: LS6090 laser problem

Hi Dave We have checked the mirror at the end of the tube (the one housed within the exit of the tube) and this was spotless. We did note that there are bubbles where a silver coloured insert is fitted into the tube (about 40mm from the end of the tube). It looks as though this insert is glued into ...

Re: LS6090 laser problem

Hi Dave Thanks for the response. Could you please clarify your first 2 paragraphs? You say there is a focussing lens at the exit end of the tube and then in para 2 'at the opposite end of the tube is a mirror'. I thought the mirror was at the exit end of the tube. The only focussing lens I know of i...

LS6090 laser problem

Hi all Our school laser has suddenly lost most of its power, just at exam time. It even has trouble cutting through 380grm card on full power. I initially cleaned the lenses and checked mirror alignment but there is no change. I did notice when checking mirror 1 (nearest the tube) that this did not ...

Lasering ready roll icing

Hi all Just an odd bit of information. Our food tech department at school asked us recently if we could cut and engrave icing for cakes. What a question!! We tried it and it worked, different powers even gave different shades of gold/yellow. So we can now etch or cut out Happy Birthday or whatever o...

Re: Disconnected cable

Thanks Dave
Its frightening to think that potentially, with the cable disconnected, it could arc maybe to the main frame of the machine?

Disconnected cable

It was reported to me today when I came into work that our laser (6090) was not working properly. I was shown light brown scorch marks on white card (380gms) instead of the card being cut. On inspection I found a cable had come adrift from the mirror end of the laser tube, the connector is a bit lik...

Re: Cutting High Impact Polystyrene

Hi Sally We use HIPS quite a lot at school and I concur with Dave's observation regarding the rounded edge which is also raised. Dont know why this happens though. The cut edge is also slightly ridged but this does make jointing (with Tensol or Dichloromethane) better when making an edge joint, or s...

Re: cutting CD's

Hi guys

Thanks for the advice and the thread. I will give it a go and turn the filter up to max. It is only one cd for one student's school project.

Cheers
