Not Engraving

Post by blackpug »

Hi. Just got the LS3040 last week and suddenly it's not engraving. Cutting is fine tho'. Tried different speeds and power settings but no joy. What am I doing wrong?

So the head is moving but not engraving?

Do you get a message before downloading?

Try a basic shape set to engrave in lasercut and see what happens.

We tried to engrave the word 'and'. It moves as if engraving but most of the word is missing. It was engraving a few days ago. Don't know what we've done.

What settings are you using including the scan gap and what material?

Scan gap 0.05. Tried at speeds between 50 and 200. Power between 20 and 50. I think it's something we've done in lasercut software as machine was engraving a few days ago. Tried on perspex and ply.

0.05 is around 500 DPI so should be ok depending what sort of image - you could try lower (see here

Check the 'Bi-dir' box has a tick in it and try a simple shape (if you haven't already). Did you create the work 'and' in laserscript?

Got it working. Unticked the 'light guide plate' box in engrave settings and now engraving ok. That's the wife happy now. :). Thanks for all your suggestions Dave.

Is that Laserscript 6.1? Not an option in earlier versions ;)

Is it possible to know where ' 'light guide plate' box is?

I am finding the same problem but can't find the box anywhere!

Stuart.
