Engraving pine

Post by kelly »

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help,
I’ve been asked to engrave on a round bit of pine. I’ve never used pine, it’s usually ply or other woods.
I did a little test on a bit of pine I had and it’s left lines which looks like the grain in the wood.
Does this normally happen with pine? I grabbed some ply and tried it and that came out fine.
I’m not sure how to attach a pic? I hope this makes sense.
Thanks.

Yes - pine does that - you could try increasing the scan gap to see if it helps.
