HOW SMALL !!!!

Heres a bit of fun, Who can do the smallest text on a novelty item, i.e pen/seed/button etc...
I have seen this on grains of rice but what can we do in blighty?
you will need to do single direction engraving ....but eho knows what expand gap does???
Theres the gauntlet how good are your eyes :geek:

So whats smaller than a grain of rice that can be etched? mmmm Lentil?

Not sure my eyes are up to the job TBH but will have a go ;-)

Spooky has threatened to make the Aztec Calendar at 1" diameter and our old friend Henry once set the challenge of how small can someone produce a chequers board.

Here we go - a 1mm chequers board (may take some time to make the chess pieces though :lol: )

It's not perfect because I was using minimum power (in order to keep the dot size small) and the laser needs a bit of warming up - so for the next attempt I will try using a 'border' so the tube will be primed and ready for the dots (perhaps it will work, perhaps it won't)

In theory I should be able to get this down to 0.5mm square but don't hold your breath waiting :D

We have been playing with Thermark paste and have managed to mark some small metal tools. What do you think? :D
