so it could be motherboard or control pad
have you tried down loading cfg's ,it's a long shot but the laser might have lost some settings
Do all the other buttons work on the control pad

Strange, have you tried pressing esc a few times? In one of the menus on the machine there is a step function ( i cant remember what its called) , make sure it is at 0, as a tiny value will make it seem like it does not work.
