Datum position reset

Post by podbox »

Hi there,

Does anyone know if there is a way to reset the datum position? At present the laser head sits about 12mm down from the top of the 400x680 bed. I've looked at the runners position and it could move up about 6mm. Its a problem because when i cut a full 400 deep sheet the laser hits/fires at the bed frame and causes scorching.....

Just wondered if anyone had the same problem and resolved it?

I would imagine you would need to move the switches. Might nit be easy to do though!

Yeah, i had thought about that, but wondered if there was a software solution rather than hardware. I say this as when the laser is going back to the datum it hits the switch then moves forward 10mm or so.

If the datum was on the switch it would be fine, but it sits forward....

Thats the machines normal mode, it touches the hard stop then moves forward to prevent damage when it datums or it would slam into the hard stops.

It can be moved but you need to speak to Si or Chris and ask about it.You can do quite a bit of damage getting it wrong :(

best wishes

Hi,
Do you want to adjust the amount it moves back after touching the switches?
This is done from the syscfg file in your c drive in the lasercut folder.
Quite complex and Chris at HPC 07854 161710 told me how to do it we wanted a jig and it to always start in the position we set after datum.
Give him a call preferably when youre at the pc ;)
